Tonight! Zumba for Kitties!

Where: Nichols Park fieldhouse (53rd Street -- right near the Hyde Park Animal Clinic)
When: 7pm-8pm Mondays
How much: $5, and all profits go directly to us!
What: Zumba, baby. It's fun and any fitness level can participate. If I can do you can do it! And I do it!

Thanks to some recent donors: our sustaining friends Mike H. and James M., Vlad (who adopted Kenya and gave some much-appreciated extra!) and Alexis, who donated in honor of Shia. Shia went missing recently from her home south of the midway at 73rd and Cornell and has not been found. Please write us at hydeparkcats@gmail.com if you have any information on her.

Thanks to everyone on our adoption team, including our wonderful fosterparents, our vet-care folks, our foster coordinator Julie, our reference-checker Marilee, our adoption counselors, and our Adoption Coordinator Ainat --  TWENTY TWO lucky cats went home over this summer. Not that summer's over ... it's not over, is it?

Kenya

Kenya was adopted from Hyde Park Cats last year, but her owner is in the midst of a family emergency and we are putting her back on the market.  Her owner is incredibly sad but hopes that someone will come along to give Kenya a new forever home filled with love and affection.

Fostermom Sophie writes, "Kenya is very sweet, active, and playful. She likes to be the center of attention and is very vocal about what she wants: cuddles! Her favorite toys are ones that you can use with her, like feather toys and string. She's gentle and loves to meet people, but might need some time to adjust to a new home."

Kenya

Kenya was adopted from Hyde Park Cats last year, but her owner is in the midst of a family emergency and we are putting her back on the market.  Her owner is incredibly sad but hopes that someone will come along to give Kenya a new forever home filled with love and affection. 

Her current mom writes that "Kenya is a fun and playful cat. She loves to sit in an open window, or an open door with a screen in it. Kenya is a hunter cat, and she loves to sniff out bugs for a tasty treat. Kenya has medium energy level, and she will sleep when you sleep (she's pretty laid back). She does not like to be closed out so leave the door to your room cracked! She likes to be next to you so put her bed next to yours and she will sleep there. She doesn't really care for fancy cat toys, but she will love a shoelace, string, or a ball of paper. Kenya has excellent litter habits and is a healthy girl."

New Year's Eve

This New Year's Eve, cats and kittens in our fosterspaces -- like orange boys Julius and Rigoli, who came in from the cold thanks to a caring Chicago city police officer -- await forever homes.

Pretty, a shy kitty from Champagne-Furbana, is inside and learning to love this New Year's Eve.

This New Year's Eve, we remember the kitties we said goodbye to in 2010: Adm. Adama, Mona, Spalding, Nadia, Willa, Freckles, Maxime et Maurice, Esther's third, and those who never had a name.


This New Year's Eve black and white cats like Carmen, who fostermom Katherine G. calls "the most adoptable cat ever," or lovable couch potato Leo Leonni, await forever homes.

This New Year's Eve, our alley cats are eating.

This New Year's Eve kittens like Cleo and Darius and Ray and the five cuties we're about to unveil all await their forever homes.

This New Year's Eve, all the kitties who were adopted from us in 2010 are curling up with their forevermom, or foreverdad, or foreverkids, with the memory of their outdoor life behind them.

This New Year's Eve, homeless cats out on the street are cold and hungry.

May 2011 bring us many more opportunities to rescue cats, yet fewer cats to rescue.

Kenya

Kenya was found wandering alone on busy Hyde Park Blvd (51st St.), meowing for help. Construction workers said she had been meowing at passers-by for quite a while. She is a beautiful sleek young black cat (probably under one year) who loves to greet you with meows and purrs. Her favorite toy is wadded-up paper towels; she loves to bask in the sunlight. Kenya is very playful and even enjoys checking out the water in the bathtub. She loves to be petted and will curl up with you in bed. Her orange eyes are hypnotic!

Fostermom Tameka points out that Kenya has just the cutest jet-black nose and a tiny white patch on the tip of her tail.
