new targets, new location

We've been asked to help out a little at another Hyde Park location, north of 55th street (near the U of C track). There appears to be a colony-in-the-making: a very friendly, but unneutered male cat, a female cat, and a few kittens. Here's hoping we can stop these cats from procreating any more!

Kitten 1, here. Thanks to Anna for the pix -- and a big purry thanks to Anna for caring enough to try and help these cats out!

Meet Luka, Mona, and Pixie!

Top to bottom, we have Luka, a male; Mona, a female; and Pixie, another male. They had spay/neuter surgery at The Anti-Cruelty Society and are currently in post-surgery recovery.

Sadly, we discovered that Mona is FIV+. You can learn more about FIV, or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, here. FIV is fairly common among feral cats, but moreso among the males. We hope that Mona can stay healthy for a long time now that she is spayed -- she won't have to use her resources on pregnancy and nursing. We'll try to keep an extra eye on her and watch for illness.

Thanx to Brenda D. and Nancie T. for their donations. A big purrrrry thanx!

Tree House's feral project in our (loose term) neighborhood

Well, we're just overwhelmed with the project and trying to get it together to trap. We really need some man/womanpower! We're going to try and get with this project above.
