Just in time

This sweet but roughed-up tiger/white kitty was rescued from an alley last night ... just in time before today's (anticipated) storm. This kitty has been seen by a few different people over the course of about two weeks. Laura F. gave it a go at catching him the other night but he ran under a car ... last night he tried to evade Kim M. and Ainat by running into a stairwell. Perhaps he knew the storm is coming; after not too long he did allow himself to be captured. He spent last night in Kim's bathroom, and seemed happy to be somewhere warm; Kim reports he is actually extremely friendly. He scarfed down all his food (you can see how skinny he is). He has some sort of wound on his hind leg and his ears may be frostbitten. He has a 10am appt at our local vet! Please apply to foster or adopt him right away.

We're so happy this one kitty, at least, is out of the storm ...

Poor kitty

Update: This kitty has a horrible abscess on his tush which will have to be surgically cleaned. He is dehydrated and anemic and also has an ear infection.

The vets at Hyde Park Animal Clinic are currently caring for him.

On a happy note, he is extremely friendly, even with the vet, and is in a warm dry place where he can rest his little weary head.

Poor little guy, he is adorable but looks really worn out. Bless you all for helping him.

Took a blizzard! I bet he will end up in tip top shape and be ever so grateful for his rescue

Poor guy - a blizzard and the ensuing cold snap might have killed him, given how weak he must be from these infections and dehydration. Smart guy to let himself be caught and cared for just in time. I hope all the animals out there less fortunate than he is will be okay over the next few days ...

We named him Justin... as in "just in time." He spent the whole day getting cleaned up at the vet's office and is now back in my spare room, relaxing on his favorite cushion. :-)

I am so glad he was rescued in time! I have to say "Hurrah!" for the folks at the Hyde Park Animal Clinic. My kitties go to them, and we are uniformly fond of the vets there. It is a lovely thing they do, caring for these poor waifs.

Kim, you, too, have done a mitzvah taking in this sweet little boy. I do worry about all the homeless cats out there in the cold and snow.

I just saw this. Bless you for taking care of him. How is he doing now?

Much better! He's still too skinny for surgery, but is eating well and looking sleeker. He is a total lap cat... I can't believe this boy was ever outside.
