Research Library Cat

This very social black and white male (unfixed) cat was found outside the Center for Research Libraries this morning, very dirty and cold. CRL is by 61st and Kenwood but I don't recognize this cat from any of the area colonies.

We are completely out of foster spaces so "Frankie" will have to be relinquished to "the pound" later today. Unless somebody emails and wants to take him in ...

I'm one of the folks who took this cat in this morning and I just want to say that he's amazingly sweet. When I picked him up outside, he buried his face in my sweater, snuggled in, and started purring and doing kitten paws like mad. He's currently in our office and is very well behaved. He took immediately to an old lab coat that we put in a cubby for him and he's curled up fast asleep. He would make a fabulous pet. Please take him if you can!

He looks so incredibly sweet! Not sure how he'd work out with our male cat though - from what I hear, two of the same gender doesn't work out too well. Good luck placing him though!

Yeahdog, it is NOT all true that 2 male cats won't get along. I have 3 male cats and they all get along great. It would be nice for your guy to have a playmate too. As long as you introduce them gradually, your cat would probably accept him rather quickly. Please reconsider at least fostering him as if they have to take him to AC&C he will probably be euthanized. I would consider taking him if I had the space but I have other fosters now and a small place so I can't.

I hope someone is able to take him in. He seems like a great cat. I've put the word out on Twitter and to a rescue group that I volunteer with here in Champaign. I have my fingers crossed for him!

Hellow all--thank you for looking out for Frankie. I have good news! We found a home for him. A colleague's mom adopted him this afternoon. He's staying with the vet tonight to be neutered in the morning and then he's off to his new home.

Thank you for getting the word out on Frankie!

Hmm--it appears that I've lost the ability to spell--that should be Hello, not Hellow!

Lucky Frankie.
I wish him and his kind new owner a very happy future together!

one more update on Frankie--I spoke with his vet this morning and I'm happy to report that he has a clean bill of health (except for some worms). He's been neutered this morning and he'll go home with his adoptive person this evening. Also, he didn't have any signs of frostbite, which is a blessing given how cold the little guy was when we found him. I'm just thrilled for this little guy--he's hands down one of the sweetest cats I've ever met and he deserves a good life.
