Mamico and Naru

Mamico was caught! Here she is with one of her young ones, Naru, on their way to their TNR services. Two of the many outdoor (neither feral nor housecat), these beautiful kitties have a steady source of food and access to shelter, so they will stay outside and we will continue to TNR their family. Watch this hilarious video of Naru.

I'm very glad you're helping them but I don't get why video of an obviously frightened cat is "hilarious".

Anonymous, I think Naru is communicating with the rescuers. I agree, communicating some fear - but mostly trust. Fear is appropriate because he does not really know what comes next, but he is not shaking or going nuts like many ferals I have caged to help. His trust comes from what has happened already, in the feeding of his community and the calm demeanor of the volunteers. I think any hilarity is not aimed at Naru, rather, its a chance levity amongst the volunteers who do a really really difficult job out there on the streets. Gallows humour. On the other hand, its truly good that you question what you see, and I thank you for that.

Mamico stayed hidden for a couple days but now the whole family is back together looking up at me with those big eyes, greeting me when I feed them (circling me, just outside my reach so I can't touch them). I'll trap the kids as soon as this weather breaks so they can be more comfortable as they recover in the garage.

It's funny because the cat is talking. With consonants!

It's OK that he is frightened. If we were so sensitive we couldn't bear them to be frightened nobody would be TNRed.

So glad that these two sweeties are back to their normal lives! And thanks to Diane for all her good work with this gang - fewer homeless cats, and longer, happier lives for these one, will be the result.
