Antonia

Antonia, a very small black kitten, was spotted last week in the alley right next to the Cornell Park sign, moving around between the parked cars on the east side of the alley. After three tries she was captured by a benefactor. The vet's pronouncement is that Antonia is about eight weeks old, 1.5 pounds, definitely underweight (and toting fleas) but otherwise apparently healthy; she got her first set of shots, and a dose of anti-flea medicine.

She is now eating like a kitten possessed, and is very affectionate - though shy, and so far reluctant to leave her lair under a recliner; she purrs like a little buzzsaw and has gotten to the 'rubbing cheek against hand' stage.

She is presently waiting to see if the household's incumbent cats will accept her presence. Keep your paws crossed!

Thanks to Nathaniel for this awesome kitten rescue!

Another thanks to Nicholas - lucky Antonia. She resembles Construction Kittehs

Well, she was plucked from the engine block of a car where she was taking shelter for the evening, so it's possible that she was a construction kitteh who hitched an accidental ride away from home...

What a beautiful little kitten....I have high hopes for her as it is easier to introduce a kitten to incumbent cats than an adult in many cases....my own included.

Yikes! I meant "another thanks to Nathaniel" as when compassion is bestowed upon kittiehs proper respect needs be made!!! Thanks for taking the time, and action.

Did anyone see the sign on the lightpost at the SE corner of 55th and Hyde Park Blvd about someone looking for a young lost black cat? I noticed it out of the corner of my eye the other day but didn't think much of it until I saw this post. Someone may want to check this out and see if this might be that person's kitty.

Thanks for pointing out it out - I just checked, and the lost cat on the flyer isn't Antonia.
