September Adoption Roundup

Thanks to everyone on our adoption team, including our wonderful fosterparents, our vet-care coordinator Laura, our foster coordinator Julie, our reference-checker Marilee, our adoption counselors, Treehouse drivers, and our Adoption Coordinator Ainat --  the following lucky cats went home in September:


Egypt (adoption #292)
Penguina (293)
Miriam (294)
Bootsy and Ellis (pair -- 295 and 296)
Maceo and Wesley (pair -- 297 and 298)

All of these cats except Egypt (who was abandoned at the vet's office) were plucked out of alleys and garages south of the Midway around Cottage Grove.

Here is a little update on Egypt, from furrrrever mom Christina. I love it when a shy cat can make a bond with that special person who just knows -- just knows -- that this is the right cat:

Egypt is doing very well in her new home! As mentioned before I adopted her, she is taking a little bit to get used to her new environment. Her favorite place thus far has been under my bed. But just this morning when I woke up, instead of fleeing to under my bed like she normally has been doing, she greeted me with a 'meow meow' and stood expectantly by her food bowl when I got her food out. :) And last night when I was on the my laptop, she chose to sit next to me. So she's definitely coming out of her shell. Because she's been so shy I haven't gotten a picture of her and I interacting, but I did get a pic of her sitting near my bed (attached). Thanks so much for the opportunity to adopt such a lovely kitty :)

Maceo and Wesley

Maceo and Wesley are still available!  We will let fosterdad Patrick do the talking for these adorable little kitties: 

"If these cats were built for anything, they were built to play.  Maceo and Wesley bring a level of energy and activity to our apartment that has been missing since second week of classes.  Despite some initial skittishness upon arriving in our home they have warmed up tremendously and quickly learned what’s good in their new hood.

Maceo and Wesley are the perfect complements to each other.  Though Maceo is more friendly, Wesley’s antics are nothing short of hysterical.  These cats play with more energy than the Energizer Bunny.  Indeed, they run around our living room at the speed of light, batting at any dangling objects they may encounter and kicking ping pong balls like futbol campiones.    
 
Maceo will often come and sit with me as I read.  He is a junkie for head scratches and cheek massages, and flops around like a fish out of water when receiving a belly rub.  Wesley is a little less social- she calmly circles around the festivities but typically deems them beneath her.  She prefers to follow you around as you move about the apartment, tapping your leg with her head or tail when she thinks you’re not looking.   I initially thought these cats were a tad shy, but having spent time with them I realize they are just a little coy.  They need a bit of time to warm up to new people but they are eager to build trust and share their love."

Bootsy and Ellis, named after members of funk superstar James Brown's band,  are a bonded pair of kitten brothers ready for their forever home.  Fostermom Becca writes that "Bootsy and Ellis are incredibly snuggly and loving and funny. They are best buds and cuddle, play, and give each other baths all the time. They also love their foster parents. Bootsy will snuggle on your lap or next to you whenever you want him there, and Ellis likes to perch on the back of the couch, or at your feet under the desk. Bootsy loves belly scratches and will have lengthy conversations with foster parents. Ellis occasionally joins in these conversations, which are extremely comical. Ellis has silky soft fur and  adorable big eyes, and he likes to burrow under blankets to nap, play, or wait to ambush Bootsy. They are especially adorable when they walk side by side, with matching tails pointing to the ceiling and wagging. They also both love playing fetch! they bring their toys to where we’re sitting and then run and fetch them when they’re thrown ! They are both very well behaved, easy to take care of (not picky, no litter box issues), and an absolute joy to have around, whether they’re greeting you in the morning or when you come home, stretching out or snuggling in hilarious positions, or snuggling up next to you."

Maceo and Wesley

Maceo and Wesley are a bonded female-male pair of sibling kittens. Maceo is a very interesting tabby-tortie mix -- the orange stripe on her head is an unusual marking! Wesley is her gingery brother.
Fostermom Claire writes "First of all, they are very playful. They like chasing each other, or the laser dot, doing acrobatic jumps and funny pirouettes (Wesley has the habit to run very fast in direction of a wall and bounce on it...!). Maceo is very brave. She likes to play with the cord of my hair dryer when it's on! Both are very happy to jump in the bathtub to play with the little water drops on the curtain. When they at last decide to rest, Wesley purrs very loudly and meows asking to be pet more. He loves neck massages. Maceo is like a rag doll when we pet her (she doesn't resist at all and can stay in funny yoga positions). They are both perfectly litter trained, not picky with food, like the scratcher so much that they also eat the cardboard... they are still very shy when someone new enters the apartment, unless this someone has a laser..."
