Sahara and Sheba (update)

Sheba was adopted into one of our alumnus' home -- she has joined Sahara, who was adopted from us about a year ago.

Furrrrever mom writes to us that Sheba, now Cleo, "is doing great! She's completely comfortable in her new home, and she and Sahara are fully integrated after only a week. They like to play together--they tackle each other and wrestle together, and they also cuddle and clean each other." Apparently there are many disagreements about who is going to clean whom first, LOL.

Original post on Sheba.

Both these black beauties came from the same general area ... maybe they're fur-real brother and sister! Whatever the case, they have a sibling/friend for life. Thanks wonderful adopters!

Sheba

Sheba came inside right before Halloween, and proven to be just a lovely and easy housecat. Fostermom says "she's perfect."  Sheba is a very relaxed and friendly young girl cat, surely not even one year old. She is the perfect family pet; very sweet and relaxed with children. She enjoys being held and petted, but can also amuse herself. She has been fostered with a relaxed dog and is friendly with the dog as well. Sheba is a very shiny black cat with a bright white medallion on her chest. It's not too late to end 2012 the best way possible -- with a new furry family member!

January round-up

Sheba and Sahara sitting in a tree K.I.S.S.I.N.G . . .  -  We are thrilled that Sheba (now Cleo) was adopted by the same great family that adopted Sahara (see post below).  Knowing he was ready for a housemate, Sahara's adoptive mom and dad combed the HPC listings. They chose to visit Sheba and decided to take her home and as you can see from the pictures it was a MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN. Yenta would be proud of this shidduch.

Other January adoptions include:

Zimmerman, (foster failure) -- a  former street kitty

Randy -- pulled from AWL by a black-cat aficionado; another black-cat lover spotted him, visited, end of story.

Vincent -- Found emaciated on the street by a caring young woman.

Elwood -- another guy found on the street and ... our February calendar cat!

Gertie - Its been a long road for this sweetheart, after living the rough life of a street mom (Iris and May are her kittens) she has finally found her furrever home.

2013 is off to a great start!

Sheba says Happy Halloween

Yesterday MJK got word from Adrienne, one of our South-of-the-Midway partners in TNR, that there was a black kitten at the corner of 67th and Cornell.  In addition to her concern about the kitten being outside in the cold weather, Adrienne was worried about the potential dangers facing black cats at Halloween (better safe than sorry).  Late last night MJK found the kitten nestled in a bed of leaves under a hedge in the playground at 67th and Cornell.  "Sheba" is safe and warm now, with a full tummy and a comfy bed.  She purrs like a diesel engine and is extremely sweet and affectionate.  She is using the litter box like a pro.  She is probably only two or three months old.

Happy Halloween!
