THANX!!!!!

Big purry thanx to Cheryl P., to Elizabeth A., and to Mac and Elizabeth B.! THE CATS THANK YOU!

new target wears a bib

New target: the pretty female wearing a white "bib." For now I'll call her "Biberon," which is a Spanish word for baby bottle.

Look-alikes = new targets

I originally posted these pix as updates of Gino and Emilee, but looking closely, I don't see ear-tipping. Do you?

Many of the cats in this alley look so alike we can't tell them apart! We think the big tomcat, Mugsey (still trying to get his picture!) has had several litters with one or two specific females, resulting in several generations of look-alikes.

So these look-alikes are new targets.

extra extra read all about it!

Read all about us in Mary Schmich's column in today's Chicago Tribune

HOW TO HELP

We have been overwhelmed with the wonderful response from the Tribune article. Thank you all so very much.

If you were touched by the article and/or our project, and want to donate to us, we are accepting donations of money and cat food. We would also be interested in the donation of a humane trap(s). We are also looking into buying a nice structure for the cats for winter. If you are interested in donating that (or you can build one for us), please contact me and we'll chat!

If you want to donate to our project, please email me at dreidl@gmail.com.

Readers can also donate to PAWS Chicago or to Treehouse, the two Chicago organizations which help us with the Hyde Park Cats project:

PAWS Chicago has a wonderful program to offer low-cost spay/neuter surgery to pet-owners on public assistance and those living in certain zip codes. They offer dog and cat adoption.

Tree House is dedicated to the rescue and rehab of sick, injured, and abused cats.

THANK YOU and THE CATS THANK YOU!

Izzie wants a home and a lap

This is IZZIE. She is a SWEETHEART, and totally tame! She is certainly less than one year, perhaps only 6 months. Mary Jean reports "I had a hard time taking a picture of her because she wanted to be close to me!"

Do you want a beautiful sweet tabby -- a true Hyde Parker, and a person with a good back story??

Stray Cat Strut

A plug for an upcoming program:

Tree House Animal Foundation’s Stray Cat Strut is a 5-mile Walk to raise awareness of pet overpopulation, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and the need for people to choose adoption over pet stores and breeders. The money raised will not only help support Tree House residents, but will also help us reach out to and educate the community about the pressing issue of stray overpopulation and the ways to combat the problem. Please help us turn Chicago into a no-kill city!

cats I, J, and K

WOW ... three more cats have been trapped, neutered (or spayed) and released!

From the top, these are cats I, J, and K -- or Izzie, Jules and Kerry.

As you can see, one of the cats is still a kitten.  Izzie(top) is an extremely friendly and sweet girl. Would you like a kitty?

THANX KIM!

A big thank you to Kim, whose donation covered *two* spay/neuter surgeries this weekend. The kitties are grateful. Thanx Kim!

THANX GROUNDS of BEING!

A big thank-you to the manager, crew, and patrons of Grounds of Being, who have donated about $40 so far (in our donation jar).

Grounds of Being is the student-run coffeeshop in the basement of Swift Hall. The students of the University of Chicago Divinity School oversee this nonprofit shop--the money funding worker salaries, various Div School initiatives, and even scholarships and research grants.

Come spend a couple bucks on our delicious, fair-trade coffee. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, yummies, and sundries (e.g., aspirin) are also available!

HELP THIS CAT

This cat is living in an alley in your backyard. She is not spayed and, since kitten season is upon us, will probably get pregnant soon ... unless we can trap her, spay her, and return her to her home. Can you help?

Background info and how to help

Cats C-E

From top: Chandra (gray), Dana, and Emilee. All three have been spayed or neutered. But we still have six or seven cats to go! Can you help?

THANX SANDY!

A big thanx to Sandy, who has covered the cost of one spay/neuter surgery!!!
