Calico
This kitty is behind bars no more. Today representatives of Hyde Park Cats went to the Animal Welfare League to do some volunteer work like cleaning cages. Of course we couldn't leave without some cats, four cats to be specific. We will be offering these beautiful cats for adoption in partnership with AWL. This beautiful young calico is about five to six months old and very petite. She is currently relishing a non-barred environment with fostermom Nusrat. Thanks to Ainat, Ruth, and Zarinah for helping the kittehs at AWL.

There were so many beautiful cats there. But because we can't bring them all back, it would be great if groups of us from HPC could go regularly to AWL (it's not far away!) and just cuddle the cats. A small effort on our part could make such a difference to them - they have food and water, what they most need is some love.
Well said, Ruth.
This kitty is so cute! I have a name suggestion: Coquelicot. Sounds a bit like "calico", but means "poppy" in French.

So Zoe, would the name be pronounced as
Cock-ellico?
Very nice. And Poppy is a sweet name in its own right for a cat!
I can't emphasize Ruth's comment about volunteers enough. I was in a room with about 12 cats for 2 hours and most of them were so scared and/or desperate for affection. I was told by another volunteer that the cats really do not get much socialization, so any time spent with them is so important and can increase their chances of being desirable for adoption. I would definitely join HPC any time you go again in the future. At the very least, I'm going to try to get out there once a month.
Hi Zoe,
I love that name!
We have another calico kitten in the pipeline maybe she can have it.
Nusrat has named this beauty Sepia.
Sepia's a very good name.
Coquelicot is pronounced "Coh-klee-COH", and I agree that Poppy is also a very cute name. I like Coquelicot, though, because it's so similar to calico.
On a personal note, I have a calico cat, and she is the sweetest, most affectionate, and personable cat you might hope to meet. Almost dog like in her affection (and demands for attention). I love calicos.
